GARDEN HOUSE

April
‘Enjoyed our stay in Garden House such a welcoming atmosphere the minute you walk into it. Very well equipped and so comfortable …Many thanks’

6th -13th April
‘With my daddy I climbed three munros in the Ben Lawers range near loch Tay, where the crannog centre is and thats where we went on Thursday, at the Crannog centre where there were lots of activities to do outside. I would really recommend the Auchingarroch wildlife centre, they’ve got lots of animals that you can feed and touch and the playground is good for children. The Hermitage was quite a good walk and a really good view.

‘Mrs McD is to be congratulated for the special care of guests at Garden House. What a wonderful blend of Victoriana and technology; tea on arrival and Groke shower . Beautiful website juxtaposed with log fires. The attention to detail everywhere evident and greatly appreciated. Our holiday has been so relaxing and carefree mostly due to the infrastructure created and nurtured at Garden House.
Ewan ………..Glasgow.’

‘I would recommend the activities at Croftnacaber such as quad biking and river rafting. Lovely country side walks especially at Loch Tay.

‘I liKed the forest walK in weem, the coal fires and cycling. We’ve had a great holiday – I hope Mum and dad bring us back.
Douglas (61/2).’ FROM GLASGOW

‘What a lovely place to stay! It is such a comfortable house in such a lovely setting. We’ve come to Aberfeldy for the 5th or 6th time, the first time with both our children. There is always something ‘new’ to do. We’ve walked cycled and swam and ate, ate, and ate. The weather has been lovely-cold, crisp, clear and sunny everyday. A deer in the front garden and woodpeckers in the woods.
Kenny, Jacqueline, Douglas 6½, Rhona
We’ll be back, we’re provisionally booked for Easter next year!’

‘Our 7th year and we are still finding lots to do – Alas all good things have to end but there’s always next year - we love it.’

30th November
‘As with everyone here before us, a beautiful location and a superb warm and comfortable house. Log fires a real treat.
Went white water rafting on the Braan – Excellent time. Then stopped off at the Hermitage and jumped off a 35ft bridge into a small pool. One of the most frightening experiences of my life. So glad we did it though.
A real special place and I hope we come back.
Laura, Kenny, Des, Stuart, & Karen.’

“Personal highlights of a 3 week holiday from a family from Canada and USA
The drive from Glenshee to Balmoral. Weem forest walk. The Stone Circle at Croftmoraig. St David’s well and the views.
Garden House has been a super base for visiting, exploring, hosting & coming home to. We will be back.
Exploring the Central Highlands in detail has been a wonderful experience! This corner of the planet, while deep in history, possesses opportunities for modern travellers to experience all the comforts of modern day age. Locals are friendly, helpful and genuine."

Christmas
A lovely cosy and well equipped cottage. We have all enjoyed our week in Scotland – Santa found us!………………………

WEST LODGE

September
The area is so fantastic with so much to see and do.
The ‘Crannog’ is a must visit…………………. Our favourite spots near here are the walks in the Tay forest, Rannoch is the most fantastic of all……………………….if you like hill walking you can go for hours on end without seeing another soul except the birds and wildlife.
There are places in plenty to eat out, and Ailean Chraggan is first class for a special night out. The Tigh an Loan at Fearnan is excellent value and friendly service.
West Lodge is, as always, well above standard with attention to detail making it extra special. For example, how many places would you find 6 chiller blocks in the Fridge Freezer. …………………
We have been coming here on and off for 25 years and hope to come back for many years to come.
J.R. Somerset.

February
Fantastic stay - we will come back.
Ben Lawers is great – car park at snowline and climb up!
All the above with 2 children ages 4 and 7.
Paul & Caroline.

New Year
A lovely place to spend the New Year, quiet, cosy and free to enjoy it as you like.
The House of Menzies is what it says on the card – good wine, food and coffee. Nice atmosphere.
This is a nice area and we will be back many times.

November
Arranging accommodation on the internet is particularly akin to buying a pig in a poke – but West Lodge has been a wonderful choice and more than fulfilled our expectations. It is beautifully appointed – bright, cheerful, warm (even in the snow!) and very pleasant with every comfort and convenience.
The situation is ideal for exploring this part of Scotland………………
James & Vanoia. Halifax, CANADA.

September - October
We are back! For the second time we are here in wonderful West Lodge. And it gets better & better!
The Scottish people are even more friendly. With all it’s beautiful castles is more and more becoming the most wonderful country we’ve ever been to.
You should go the ‘Queen’s View’ you feel as if you are alone in the world, and all the bad news in the world wouldn’t be real.
Looking forward to a woderful journey and a soon return!
Ute & family. Cologne, GERMANY

September
A lovely stay – our first holiday with 9½ month old twins, having 2 cots + high chairs provided. Ideal for babies – NO stairs!

October
Great holiday in a lovely cottage. We did almost 2 walks a day from the ‘North Perthshire Walks’ book. They were all excellent, but my favourites were Glen Tilt and the Birks of Aberfeldy.
Very memorable dinner at Ailean Chraggan.

February - March
We loved the “Lodge” at first sight and found it very cosy.

August
This has been our first visit as a family to the area, …. West Lodge is perfect – far exceeding our expectations. ………Here is a run down of some of the places we’ve been this week, mostly walking as we have been trying to keep costs down .
Sunday. Walk around Aberfeldy and to the Birks. Spectacular falls!
Supper at Ailean Chraggan
Monday Shopping in Perth. Nice city, picnicked on the North Inch.
Tuesday Walked up to and past the Falls of Acharn, hermits cave on route.
Drive around Loch Tay
Wednesday Pitlochry visit. Particularly enjoyed the Dam & Fish Ladder. Faskally forest walk, & finished with Weem forest walk. Home 9pm children exhausted.
Thursday Decided to tackle Schiehallion. Twins aged 5½ wanted to do a proper mountain! A real sense of achievement, even though the picnic at the highest point was spoilt by a sudden change in the weather and we descended in rain.
Friday Last day, so decided to mooch around Aberfeldy. Visit Dewar’s distillery, the Castle, and the Birks again.
It’s been a fantastic week – the children have slept well in the quietness of the area
